Altvater Jakob Pte Ltd
Public Waste Collector Altvater Jakob Pte Ltd was first appointed as the Public Waste Collector (PWC) by NEA in 1999 to provide refuse collection services in the Pasir Ris-Tampines sector. During 1 November 2004, Altvater Jakob took over the PWC for the Bedok Sector. On 1 September 2006, Altvater Jakob was appointed as the PWC for another sector in the Tanglin-Bukit Merah area and hence providing refuse collection services to more than 1.5 million of the population in Singapore.
Product Recovery Business Besides refuse collection services, product recovery is also one of Altvater’s forte. A German-imported technology was introduced beginning of 2005, to provide additional sorting capacity to cater to the growing demand of sorted recyclables, such as plastic, glass and metal materials in Singapore. Being one of the market leaders in Singapore, Altvater Jakob has installed a baling machine to handle different types of recovered papers, ranging from corrugated carton boxes, old newspapers, to office waste papers and etc, with an annual turnover of more than 100,000 metric tonnes. As a strong advocate in waste minimization, Altvater
Jakob has also introduced a series of public educational programmes to
propagate the importance of recycling. One of which is the SMART
programme which was successfully launched nationwide in September 2004.
In September 2006, another programme called the RC-REIT programme was
launched to encourage greater participation by the RCs and grassroots
organisation to reach out to their residents to recycle more. Recycling infrastructures are also made available to both residential and trade premises so as to provide greater recycling convenience to individuals and business entities who are keen in Altvater Jakob’s Public Recycling Services programme.
